Vashon Software

 We Build Web Sites!

Vashon Software has been creating web sites since our first intranet sites back in the mid 1990's. After that we tended to produce ISAPI DLL's and ASP, then ASP.NET based sites - often with significant server-side code, including significant database connectivity layers and COM objects. More recently we have focused on creating standards compliant web sites using CSS, XHTML, and XML transforms.

We use the tool for the job, but are familiar with Dreamweaver, Visual Studio Team Suite, Team Foundation Server, Expression Web, Flash, Photoshop, InDesign and more.

While we have produced straight ASP.NET 2 sites, we almost exclusively use the DotNetNuke (DNN) Portal or Content Management System (CMS) as our underying framework these days. It is free, open source and takes great advatage of the robust and flexible IIS and .NET architecture from Microsoft.

Vashon Software has designed and implemented over a dozen web sites here on Vashon and across the Puget Sound region. We've also created custom intranets for corporations, so contact us to discuss your projects.

We strive to create standards based, CSS, XHTML based sites that clients can modify and largely maintain themselves.

 Web Technologies

Here are a variety of sundry pages on technologies we are tracking and even attempting to use. This subsite is hereby  formally declared an 'experimental' site, clicking on something may (or may not) do anything, depending on the quality of the coding, the technology, or your hardware and software. Good luck!

Select individual technologies to see links and information we've assembled about the technology. Rather than clicking on some weird link, you can also just see what we've been reading.
